So thats all this really is there is also Hex which is cool to after 9 they have a, b, c, d, e, and f. It's another easy thing for a computer cause ever 4 bits equal 1 hex number so 1000 is 8 and 1111 is F and so forth. Noone ever called Donald a nerd.. He probally is knowing binary but thats life. Perhaps an explanation would be better served like this: In binary, there are only two digits: 0 and 1. In decimal - what we use every day - there are ten digits: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9.
Now, we write ten as "10" because we don't have a digit for it. So, in decimal, after 9, we reset our current digit to zero, and add one to the digit to the left, taking it from a 0 to a 1, making 10.
In binary, we run out of digits much faster. In fact, with a single binary digit you can express 0 and 1, and... that's all. So, we do the same as we do in decimal - reset the current digit to 0 and add 1 to the next digit to the left, and that makes... 10. And since we came here from the number 1, that means that 10 in binary is 2.
